General:
Annual herb from a taproot; stems 0.3-1.0 m tall, simple or sometimes branched, glabrous, or if sparsely hairy then the simple hairs not exceeding the starlike hairs.
Leaves:
Basal leaves few, soon deciduous; stem leaves lanceolate to oblanceolate, nearly entire, 2-8 cm long, short-stalked or unstalked, mostly glabrous or only slightly hairy, upper leaves lanceolate or linear-oblong, unstalked, with earlike lobes at the base.
Flowers:
In elongated racemes; flower stalks slender, ascending-spreading, 10-25 (30) mm long; petals white to pale yellow, 4-5 mm long; sepals 2-3 mm long.
Fruits:
Silicles, 7-9 mm long, 5-6 (7) mm wide, nearly squared-off at tip; styles 2-2.5 mm long; seeds 1-2 mm long, pale yellow-brown.

Habitat / Range

Mesic to dry roadsides, fields and waste places in the lowland and steppe zones; rare in SC BC and S Vancouver Island; introduced from Eurasia. Description
