General:
Perennial, loosely tufted herb from elongated rhizomes; stems 10-35 cm tall.
Leaves:
Mostly basal, flat, sparsely fringed with fine hairs on the margins, about 2-5 cm long, 1-3.5 mm wide, with sharp tips.
Flowers:
Inflorescence a loose, open umbel with flowers borne singly on long, spreading branches; perianth segments brown with translucent margins, 2-3 mm long, lanceolate, pointed, the inner about the same length as the outer; stamens 6; anthers 0.4-0.6 mm long, shorter than the filaments; bractlets entire.
Fruits:
Capsules, egg-shaped, rounded and pointed at the tops, slightly longer than the perianth segments; seeds spindle-shaped, 1.1-1.6 mm long, with a short, thin, yellowish tail.

Habitat / Range

Dry to mesic open forests and forest margins, gravel bars, riverbanks and wetland edges in the montane zone; rare in NE BC; amphiberingian, N to AK and YT; E Asia.
