General:
Perennial herb from a stout rhizome; mat-forming; stems ascending to erect, several, branched above, 4-10 cm tall, glabrous.
Leaves:
Stem leaves alternate, smooth, evergreen, 3-5 mm long, more or less cylindric, succulent, unstalked, not strongly keeled, sometimes completely deciduous by flowering time, rarely bearing propagules in the upper leaves.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of terminal, umbrella-shaped clusters; petals 5, bright yellow; sepals 5, lanceolate.
Fruits:
Follicles, spreading.
