General:
Annual or biennial herb from a slender taproot; stems prostrate, branched, glabrous or glaucous, 10-25 cm long.
Leaves:
Basal leaves lacking; stem leaves opposite, oblanceolate, slightly succulent, 5-30 mm long, 2-5 mm wide, gradually narrowed to short-stalked bases; stipules lacking.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of several flowers in rounded clusters; petals 5, white or pinkish-tinged, less than 1 mm long; sepals 5, greenish or red, about 1 mm long, the 5 broadly white-margined lobes about equalling the tube.
Fruits:
Capsules cylindric, about 1 mm long, purplish-black, 10-valved; seeds about 0.5 mm long.

Habitat / Range

Mesic to dry waste places in the lowland zone; rare in SW BC, known only from Vancouver and Langley; introduced from Europe.
