General:
Perennial herb from slender taproot; stems erect or ascending, much branched, angled, leafy, 15-80 cm tall, hairy with appressed, branched hairs.
Leaves:
Basal and stem leaves oblong-lanceolate, more or less entire, usually greyish-hairy with branched hairs, particularly beneath; basal leaves in rosette, short-stalked, 4-20 cm long; stem leaves crowded, short-stalked.
Flowers:
Inflorescence 4- to 6-flowered; flower stalks erect, 5-15 mm long; petals yellow to red or brown, 15-25 mm long; sepals purplish, half the length of petals.
Fruits:
Siliques, 3-10 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, densely white-hairy; beaks 0.5-4 mm long; seeds irregularly 2-rowed, more or less spherical, 2-4 mm long, winged at apex.
