General:
Annual herb from a fibrous root; stems branched, spreading-hairy or glabrous, 2-15 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves lacking; stem leaves alternate, oblong to lanceolate, 4-20 mm long, 1-3.5 mm wide, remotely toothed.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of solitary terminal flowers; calyx lobes elongate, linear; corollas tubular bell-shaped, blue with a whitish throat, shorter than the calyx lobes.
Fruits:
Capsules, 6-15 mm long, prominently ribbed, opening at the summit.

Habitat / Range

Moist seepage areas on rock outcrops in the lowland zone; rare on S Vancouver Island; S to CA.
