General:
Perennial from a taproot and a simple stem-base; stems several, erect, rarely branched, (10) 20-40 (50) cm tall, densely hairy.
Leaves:
Basal leaves suborbicular to elliptic, stalked, entire to remotely toothed, 3-12 cm long, 2-15 mm wide, hairy; stem leaves many, usually linear to linear-oblanceolate, entire to sinuate or remotely toothed, 1-4.5 cm long, hairy.
Flowers:
Flower stalks erect and nearly straight to S-shaped or slightly recurved, 6-17 mm long; petals yellow to yellowish-orange, 6-9 mm long.
Fruits:
Silicles, very short-stalked, inflated, egg-shaped to nearly globose, 3-4 mm long and as wide, sparsely hairy or glabrous; beaks about equalling the silicle in length; seeds flattened, not winged.
