General: Evergreen perennial arising from a short, stout rhizome.
Leaves: Lanceolate, 10-40 cm long, 3-7 cm wide, 1-pinnate, with short stipes; pinnae oblong, deeply cut, with ascending teeth, pinnae twisted out of plane of blade.
Dry to mesic ultramafic rock outcrops and talus in the montane and subalpine zones; rare in SW BC (Cascade Mountains and southern Coastal Ranges, disjunct to the Cassiar Mountains); S to MT, UT, ID and CA.
