Western Canada goldenrod (Solidago lepida var. lepida) is a perennial rhizomatous clonal variety of goldenrod, 25–150 cm in height, with broadly thyrsiform arrays, no basal leaves, and entire to toothed stem leaves. It is found throughout most of the species range, which is "in the west from the Aleutian Islands and central Alaska south just into northern California, and in the Rocky Mountains to Arizona and New Mexico. Its range extends across Canada to Newfoundland, the Gaspé (Quebec), and northern New Brunswick. It also appears to be introduced at scattered locations across the Canadian prairies" (Semple and Cook 2010 in Flora North America).
