General:
Annual herb from a taproot; stems 10-50 cm tall, branched from near base, stalked-glandular and often sparsely stiff-hairy.

Leaves:
Basal and lower stem leaves stalked, wavy-toothed to pinnately lobed, 3-8 cm long, elliptic-oblong to lanceolate or oblanceolate; upper stem leaves similar, reduced, unstalked, toothed to entire.

Flowers:
Racemes elongate, the lower flowers from the axils of slightly reduced leaves, the raceme mostly bractless; flower stalks ascending, 2-4 mm long, stout; petals magenta, with narrow, stalklike bases that slightly exceed the sepals, the narrowly oblong blades spreading, 5 mm long; sepals erect, 6-8 mm long, free but forming a tube.

Fruits:
Siliques, spreading to ascending, 35-45 mm long, often upcurved; beak 7-20 mm long.
