Species Information

General:
Perennial herb from a stout taproot, forming thick mats 10-30 cm wide; stems prostrate to ascending, simple, several, 3-7 cm tall/long.
Leaves:
Basal leaves oblanceolate to spoon-shaped, grey-hairy, sometimes smooth above, crowded, the blades 1-2 cm long, margins rolled under, the stalks sometimes as long as the blade; stem leaves lacking.
Flowers:
Inflorescence a small umbel, subtended by a whorl of 4-6 linear bracts; flower stalks naked; involucres narrowly bell-shaped, hairy, 3-4 mm long; perianths light yellow and usually pinkish to rose-tinged, woolly-hairy below, 3.5-5 mm long, 6-lobed almost the full length; flowers mostly functionally imperfect.
Fruits:
Achenes, 3-angled, smooth.
