General:
Perennial or sometimes annual herb from a fibrous root; stems erect, branched above, glabrous, 10-50 cm tall.
Leaves:
Stem leaves lanceolate to oblong, unstalked, obtuse to abruptly sharp-pointed, 5-7 nerved, 1-4 cm long, glabrous.
Flowers:
Inflorescence 5-50 flowered, erect; petals orange-yellow, 2-4 mm long; sepals lanceolate, abruptly sharp-pointed, 5-6.5 mm long; stamens less than 30; styles 3.
Fruits:
Membranous capsules, 5.5-7.5 mm long; seeds yellowish, 0.5 mm long, longitudinally grooved and finely transversely corrugate.
