General:
Annual herb from a short taproot; stems solitary, simple or branched, 3-30 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves forming a conspicuous rosette, egg-shaped, 5-25 mm long, rounded at the tip; stem leaves narrower and abruptly pointed.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of a few flowers on stalks much shorter than the calyces; corollas white to deep pink, 1.2-1.4 cm long; calyces 6-8 mm long but shorter than the corolla tubes, deeply lobed, the lobes 3-4 mm long; anthers 1.5-2 mm long and coiling slightly after opening.
Fruits:
Capsules, slender, 12-16 mm long.
