General: Annual or sometimes perennial herb from a fibrous root, not or slightly aromatic; stems sprawling to ascending, 10-20 cm long/tall, branched from base, soft-hairy.
Leaves: Opposite, egg-shaped to elliptic, 0.5-1.5 cm long, tips somewhat pointed, bases tapered, obscurely toothed, becoming glabrous; stalked.
Flowers: Inflorescence a loose, elongate spike of 3- to 8-flowered axillary clusters; corollas tubular, pink to bluish, white markings on lower lip, 7-10 mm long, 2-lipped; calyces tubular, soft-hairy within, the tube curved, enlarged at base on one side, 13-veined, the teeth awl-shaped.
