General: Short-lived perennial herb from a simple or branched stem-base; stems 1-several, branched, 30-80 cm tall, glabrous throughout or with simple or 2-branched hairs basally.
Leaves: Basal leaves oblanceolate to elliptic, entire, 2-7 mm long, 3-15 mm wide, narrowed to a slender stalk; stem leaves overlapping, unstalked, ear-like at the bases, oblong-lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 1.5-3 cm long, 3-15 mm wide.
Flowers: Few- to many-flowered racemes; petals 7-12 mm long, white; outer sepals slightly bulging on one side at the base.
Fruits: siliques, erect, straight or slightly curved, glabrous, 3-9 cm long, 2-3 mm wide; seeds in 2 rows, about 2 mm long, with wings to 1 mm wide on one side of seed.
Mesic to dry rock outcrops, talus slopes, gravelly soils, open forests and roadsides in the montane to alpine zones; frequent throughout BC; N to AK, YT and NT, E to NF and S to CA and NJ, AZ and CA.
