Species Information
General:
Perennial or sometimes biennial herb from a branching rhizome; stems single to several, erect, over 50 cm tall, glabrous or sparsely hairy.
Leaves:
Basal leaves lacking; stem leaves alternate, lanceolate to egg-shaped, irregularly saw-toothed, lower ones stalked.
Flowers:
Inflorescence of terminal clusters of numerous bell-shaped flowers; corollas 2-3.5 cm long, blue; calyces without appendages.
Fruits:
Capsules, nodding, opening near the base.
