Species Information

General:
Annual herb from a taproot, with straight, appressed and stiff, spreading hairs; stems simple or branched, 5-50 cm tall.
Leaves:
Basal leaves more or less lacking; stem leaves scattered, linear to narrowly oblong or linear-oblanceolate, 1.5-5 cm long.
Fruits:
Nutlets 1-4, narrowly egg-shaped, 2-3 mm long, typically sandy and sparingly bumpy, less often smooth and shining, with medial groove open at base.
Notes:
This species has not been collected since 1893 and should probably be excluded from the flora.

Habitat and Range

Dry to mesic disturbed areas in the lowland zone; rare, known only from Nanaimo; probably introduced from the W U.S.A.
