General:
Perennial herb from a taproot and branched stem-base; stems trailing, much branched at the base with erect flowering shoots, copiously rough-hairy, 20-45 cm tall/long.

Leaves:
Basal leaves few, soon deciduous; stem leaves opposite, numerous, linear to narrowly oblanceolate, often overlapping, 15-25 mm long, 2-8 mm wide, roughl-hairy on the margins; basal leaves somewhat shorter; stipules lacking.

Flowers:
Inflorescence of solitary flowers, occasionally 2-3 in an open cluster; petals 5, pink to rose with pale spots or occasionally white, stalks of the petals about equalling the calyces, the blades egg-shaped, 6-10 mm long, shortly and broadly toothed, often sparsely long soft-hairy on the upper surface near the stalk; sepals 5, green or reddish, united, forming a hairy tube about 15 mm long, about 30-nerved.

Fruits:
Capsules oblong, 15-18 mm long, 4-valved; seeds black, egg-shaped, 2-2.5 mm long, compressed, concave on one side.
