Introduction

There are two specimens collected from the Queen Charlotte Islands, one taken by Menzies (Kew) and one by Dixon ((BM). Apparently the Haida cultivated this species which they obtained by trade with interior people, but stopped when they obtained better tobacco by trade with Europeans.
