General:
Perennial herb from deep, thick roots, stiff-hairy; stems erect, 30-100 cm tall.

Leaves:
Basal leaves egg-shaped, net-veined, abruptly contracted at the base, up to 40 cm long, long-stalked below, becoming unstalked above.

Flowers:
Inflorescence a terminal, bracted, dense cyme; corolla regular, bright blue, 8-10 mm wide, the tubes shorter than the limbs, the calyces divided more than 3/4 to base; calyces 10-20 mm long; stamens equal, included.

Fruits:
Nutlets 4; short-stalked.

This species was first recorded for BC by F. Lomer in 2000.
