General: Perennial evergreen arising singly or in small clusters along an elongated, scaly rhizome.
Leaves: Lanceolate, 4-40 cm long, 2-7 cm wide, leathery, oblong, pinnately cleft with broad, rounded sinuses and oblong entire segments with more or less parallel sides; rachis smooth throughout.
