Species Information

General:
Deciduous or overwintering perennial arising from a short stout rhizome.
Leaves:
Broadly lanceolate, 30-100 cm long, 5-30 cm wide, 2-pinnate, pinnae pinnate again, but their segments on short stalks, finely spiny-toothed with teeth spreading, ascending.

Habitat and Range

Moist to mesic shady forests, rock outcrops and lava flows in the lowland and montane zones; rare in coastal NW BC; N to AK.
