This large, eastern North American poplar grows from Quebec and Ontario southward and west to extreme southeastern Saskatchewan, and ia very rarely cultivated. The large, broad leaves have very prominent rounded teeth, which give it both the scientific and the common names....bark is smooth and pale grey-green on young trees resembling that of the Quaking Aspen but it becomes dark grey and furrowed on old trunks".
