Species Information

General:
Annual herb from a fibrous root; flowering stems erect, 2-16 cm tall, simple or branched; glandular-hairy.
Leaves:
Basal leaves crowded, spoon-shaped, blades to 1 cm long, palmately 3- to 5-lobed, smaller leaves often entire; stem leaves similar, smaller.
Flowers:
Inflorescence terminal, flowers single or few to several; petals white, egg- to wedge-shaped, 2-3 mm long; calyces reddish, bell-shaped, joined to ovary for much of length, glandular; the calyx lobes egg-shaped, erect; stamens 10.
Fruits:
Capsules.

Habitat and Range

Dry rock outcrops and walls; rare in SW BC, known only from Fort Rodd Hill (Victoria); introduced from Europe.
