Species Information
General:
Annual herb from a taproot; stems 1 to several, decumbent to erect, 10-30 cm long/tall, unbranched, long-hairy.
Leaves:
Alternate, palmately compound; leaflets 3, oblanceolate to heart-shaped, rounded or notched at the tip, 1-2 cm long, coarsely toothed their entire length; stipules egg-shaped, 5-10 mm long, toothed, the tips long-pointed.
Flowers:
Inflorescence a dense, egg- or globe-shaped, unstalked, head of 10 to 60 pea-like flowers, the heads usually paired, 1-2 cm long, lacking involucres; corollas purple (pink to white), 5-9 mm long; calyces densely long-hairy, 5-8 mm long, the awl-shaped teeth usually much longer than the tube, the tube 10- to 30-veined.

Habitat and Range
Mesic to dry slate cliffs or talus, sandstone shale, and open, grassy sites in the lowland zone; rare on SE Vancouver Island and adjacent Gulf Islands; S to C CA.Status Information
