Found in closed canopy 90 year old, post logging, post fire, naturally regenerated forest. Associated with Douglas fir, Western hemlock, Western red cedar, Stepmoss, and both Lactarius and Golden chanterelle fungi. Growing on slope in small clusters connected by rhizomes..
