Paul Stamets calls the grass variety Psilocybe stuntzii var. tenius. The blue partial veil remants which gives the species its common name"blue ringer" , viscid pellicle and purple brown spores and the fact it was not on any dung is noted. The spores were looked at anyways and concluded to be P. stuntziii .
