Comments Staminodes short and not visible in photo. According to Lodewick and Lodewick (Key to the Genus Penstemon), staminode is short (1/2 - 2/3 length of stamens) in this species and often not bearded; anther sacs are wooly-pubescent and open end-to-end (not visible in this photo).
