Acanthodiaptomus denticornis is the only representative of its genus in North America. It is found in western Canada, USA (Alaska, south in Rocky Mountains to Wyoming), and Eurasia (Reid and Williamson, 2010). It has been collected widely across central British Columbia (Sandercock & Scudder, 1994).
This species is found in lakes and ponds (Wilson, 1959).
