The tubeworm
Dodecaceria fewksii exists in sprawling, calcium-encased colonies. Its major "claim to fame" is that all members of colony are of the same sex. This may seem bizarre, but there are a few other animal species that bear the same characteristic. In truth, this is not known for sure for
D. fewksii, as the description of "same-sex-ed-ness" was for a related species. You can read more about growth and sex in
