Introduction


Lymantria dispar dispar, formerly known as the gypsy moth, "is a species of moth in the family Erebidae that is of Eurasian origin. It has a range that extends over Europe, Africa, and North America" (Wikipedia 2021). This species is "an invasive forest pest that was introduced accidentally in the United States in 1869. Since then, the species has expanded its range over much of the eastern United States and Canada." (Hamilton Property, Gardens and Trees 2001).
