Introduction

This species is a widespread breeder throughout much of the southern and eastern United States, and regularly wanders north into eastern Canada, but is exceedingly rare in B.C. and elsewhere in western Canada. Both provincial records are from the southeastern portion of the province during the breeding season, suggesting that this species may be more likely to occur in the southern interior than along the coast (where there are currently no records).
