Distribution of Pisidium variabile in British Columbia in British Columbia

Introduction


Pisidium variabile is endemic to North America, and is widely distributed apart from the far north and far south. It appears to be absent from Alaska, Yukon, and the northwest of British Columbia (Mackie, 2007).

This species is relatively common (Mackie, 2007), is found in virtually all perennial-water habitats (Clarke, 1981), but is usually found in still water where soft sediments accumulate (Herrington, 1962).
