Distribution of Stylaster parageus parageus in British Columbia in British Columbia

Introduction

The White Branching Hydrocoral forms colonies up to 20 cm across, generally at depths beyond scuba range. The photograph shown was taken in Alaska waters within scuba range, but this hydrocoral has been accidentally brought up from deep water by fishermen in Hecate Strait in BC waters. Stylaster parageus parageus is now the accepted name. See Cairns and Lindner, 2011, ZooKeys 158: 1-88.
