Notes
This rhizocephalan barnacle is parasitic on several species of hermit crabs. It is likely to be one of a group of undescribed species lumped together under this name. The orange or red structure is the externae which contains the developing barnacle embryos. The main body of the barnacle is inside the posterior portion of the hermit's body.
