Parthenogenetic female. Although a 1933 occurrence of Podon intermedius off Vancouver Island was reported in 'A Synopsis of Canadian Marine Zooplankton' by Shih et al (Fisheries Research Board of Canada, 1971), modern literature does not report this species from the Eastern Pacific.
