Notes First time in 49 years that I've observed a Groundhog in Kootenay National Park. I know of 3 previous records - one was seen by John Narin at McLeod Meadows in 1976, John Taylor reported one at Kootenay Crossing Warden Station in the late 1970 and Canadian Wildlife Service staff observed 2 near Dolly Varden Picnic site in July of 1983.
