Notes The close-set eyes and paddle-shaped dactyls (tips) of the last walking legs are distinguishing characters of the genus Argis. Argis ovifer is distinguished by the following combination of features; 2 dorsal carapace spines, paired ridges on 6th abdominal segment converging posteriorly and forming small spines on posterior margin, strong mid-dorsal ridge on abdomen, and eyes with distinct pointed tubercle that divides cornea into two portions (visible in photo as white triangle pointing forward
