Notes
One of my favorite chitons, this species is, throughout its range, most often orange-brown in color. In Sitka Sound, however, nearly every individual is this bright violet color, while the orange-brown specimens are uncommon. While I have found the occasional violet specimen elsewhere they are generally quite rare outside of the Sitka region. Photo taken with Pentax Optio W10 underwater camera submerged in shallow aquarium.
