Notes
Munida quadrispina is the only relatively shallow member of its family found in the Eastern Pacific. These are commonly found in shrimp traps where they attracted to the bait. The swelling on the right side of the carapace of this specimen is an infection from an isopod (order of crustaceans that includes the terrestrial pill bugs and many marine forms) that is under the carapace. Related isopods infect crabs, shrimps, etc. Without direct observation there is no way to determine if the isopod is Munidion parvum or Pseudione galacanthae
