Notes This garden is only 4 blocks north of Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, but Douglas Squirrels are almost never seen outside the park. We have never seen a Douglas Squirrel in this garden, despite having lived here for 19 years. It was foraging among discarded sunflower seed husks below bird feeders, nibbling on whatever was found there. It stayed in the garden all one morning, and has been seen intermittently over the ensuing few days. Grey and black squirrels are usually the only squirrels seen in urban gardens, so this little visitor was a welcome sight.
