Comments
Plainfin midshipman fish are usually found in deep water, but when spawning can be seen by carefully turning over rocks where the fish have laid their eggs - which the males protect till they hatch. These spawning nests can only be found at ultra low tides in late spring/early summer. Since eagles feast on these fish they can be seen in large numbers on the seashore at this time.
