This is the first year there has been an apparently wintering flock of evening grosbeaks in our area -- prior to this we have only seen one lone individual in the spring of 2010. They pass through our backyard at least once a day, visiting the bird feeder and scrounging under it for dropped seed. This photo was taken the first week they arrived.
