Reviewed by Cris Guppy: "The identification is correct according to most books, with subspecies being Euphydryas chalcedona colon. However, Euphydryas colon is now generally accepted as a distinct species that occurs in the Cascade Mountains of WA and OR. It is not documented in the literature as occurring in BC, but is fairly common in the Cascades and Coast Range (at least). :
