Comments Suberites latus. Hermit crab sponge. Identified by Bill Austin. Khoyatan Marine Lab Accession #1336. This sponge is not attached to the bottom. Instead, it is carried around by a hermit crab that lives within it. The hole at the bottom of the sponge is where the crab resides. Family Suberitidae.
