This very rarely encountered species probably burrows in deep mud below 400 meters. This specimen was collected by by what is close to a miracle! It was in a glob of mud on the weight on the end of a deep water (blackcod) longline set at 500 fathoms. The shrimp somehow remained attached through the entire water column as the line was pulled!
