Comments Somewhat similar to both Pagurus tanneri and P. cornutus in being the only three local hermits that have a raised ridge on the left claw AND a triangular plateau on the right claw (many have just on left). In P. confragosus the 'triangle' on the right claw has a base that is 2/3 or more the width of the claw, while it is only about 1/2 as wide in P. cornutus. In P. tanneri the 'triangle' is only slightly raised and does not form a horn or knob as it does in the other two species.
