Comments This interesting chiton, like others of its genus, uses the elongated front of the girdle to crush small crustaceans which it eats. I have observed this species catching and eating small sculpins! A great example of the never ending source of amazement in the natural world, chitons strike me as the last group you would expect to evolve into predators!
