Comments This small chiton is unique among the scale chitons (so-called because the girdle is scaled like snake skin) in having the plate sculpturing so fine as to appear smooth to the naked eye. This is one of several chiton species that seem to prefer living on or inside empty clam and snail shells. Photo taken with Pentax Optio W10 underwater camera submerged in shallow aquarium.
