Nest Cavity in Dead Tree. I watched this Downy excavate the hole over the course of 7 days. A note of interest is that when the Downy was finished with the nest which produced 2 young birds...Tree swallows used the Cavity and produced a brood of young in late July 2007 This photo is of poor quality due to being shot from quite a distance and then cropped and enlarged.
